Ultra-Trail des Chevaliers
From Lac Blanc to the ramparts of Obernai
The race starts at over 1,100 metres above sea level from the Lac Blanc mountain resort in the Vosges. The opening kilometres pass the Tour du Faudé, a well-known landmark of the massif, before climbing the Brezouard through a quieter, more remote section of the course.
The route then follows the ridgelines, alternating between forest, open clearings and wide views across the Alsace plain. After passing through Aubure, the highest village in Alsace, runners reach the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, before beginning the descent towards the Piémont.
The course passes the ruins of several hilltop castles — Landsberg, Bernstein — overlooking forests and vineyards. In clear conditions, these sections offer views across the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and the Alps.
The journey concludes at the ramparts of Obernai, following a course that combines altitude, heritage and wild country.
